The first game I ever worked on! Buzz was a huge series for Sony in Europe in the noughties -- a quiz game that followed the SingStar peripheral trend by coming with four big buzzers, to make everyone feel like they were on a primetime squeaky-floor quiz show.
I was in charge of DLC production for the PSP version of the previous quiz game, and was also involved in taking the question data from the PS3 version of this game (developed by series creators Relentless) and getting it into our engine.
I also wrote about half of the game's script with the lead designer. It was my first time writing bark-like repetitive content, as you would need about ten different versions of each line -- "that's the end of the round" and "here are your questions", etc. As we got further into it and ran out of steam, they became increasingly unhinged, which was great fun.
My personal highlight was getting the recordings back and hearing Jason Donovan say one of the barrel-scraping menu screen idle lines I'd written, "Here comes the quiz train! Choo-choo!", with a weirdly sexy reading of choo-choo. Maybe he didn't realise that was the sound a train makes? Or maybe he just likes sexy trains? I'll never know and, frankly, I prefer to keep the mystique about it.
