I was involved with The Plucky Squire near the beginning of its development. I'd written the team's previous game, The Swords of Ditto, and they were now joined by James Turner, previously art director on Pokemon Sword and Shield.
By the time I came on to the project he already had a fairly detailed story outline and cast of characters, so I did a comprehensive Narrative Review of the project, going over what they already had, pointing out potential weaknesses and areas of opportunity, and giving numerous suggestions.
The team was already fairly well-versed in traditional narrative structures, so I also gave them a 101 introduction to how narrative for games specifically differed, and how they could adjust things in order to give the player more agency in the story.
Then, sadly, I couldn't be involved in the project any more (my circumstances, not theirs!). And that was three and a half years before the game launched, so I bet little remains from back then. But still! I was happy to be involved with such a beautiful and inventive game.
